Engineer, Reliability Engineering

Role Summary

Join the Intrinsic Reliability (iRel) Group in Limerick as a P2 Reliability Engineer responsible for characterizing novel technologies (electrochemical biosensors, magnetoresistive sensors) via device reliability testing and lifetime analysis. The role partners with device, process and failure-analysis teams to de-risk technologies and develop reliability test methods.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities focus on early risk identification, test development, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Engage early with technology and product teams to assess device and process risks relative to customer expectations.
  • Design and execute reliability tests for electrochemical and semiconductor devices, using industry-standard and bespoke stress methods.
  • Develop and apply accelerated lifetime and statistical models to evaluate technology robustness.
  • Collaborate with failure analysis and process/product development to localize failures and identify root causes.
  • Maintain awareness of industry best practices and present or attend relevant reliability conferences.

Requirements

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and pivot between multiple work streams.
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills; able to work independently and in teams.
  • Practical experience designing and executing device reliability tests and interpreting results.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering principles is an advantage.
  • Experience with Python or JMP for lifetime-data modelling is an advantage.
  • Experience developing bespoke stress tests and lifetime-acceleration techniques is desirable.
  • Note: some positions may require export licensing review for access to technical data.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in chemistry, physics, materials science, or a related field is required at minimum. A Master’s degree or relevant early-career work experience is considered an advantage; equivalent practical experience is acceptable where indicated.
