Job Title
Engineer, Reliability Engineering
Role Summary
The Product Reliability Engineer defines and executes reliability stress and qualification test plans for new products, product revisions, manufacturing changes, and reliability monitoring. The role leads root-cause analysis of qualification failures and drives corrective and preventive actions.
This position works cross-functionally with design, test, product, and manufacturing teams to validate reliability, develop test hardware, and interpret qualification results.
Experience Level
Mid-level: 3β5 years of relevant experience in Reliability Engineering, Test/Product Engineering, or Failure Analysis in the semiconductor industry.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include planning and executing reliability evaluations and supporting product qualification and continuous improvement.
- Develop and execute qualification plans, reliability evaluations, and risk assessments for products and changes.
- Design, build, and validate burn-in, life-test, and reliability test hardware and fixtures.
- Perform reliability statistical calculations (MTTF, MTBF, FIT, Weibull) and failure-rate modeling.
- Lead structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis teams using Six Sigma / 8D methodologies.
- Interpret and communicate qualification requirements across cross-functional teams and to customers.
- Identify application-specific mission profiles and plan tests accordingly.
- Provide reliability support to internal and external stakeholders and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience relevant to semiconductor reliability engineering.
- Practical experience with automotive, aerospace, industrial, or high-reliability standards (AEC-Q100/Q101, JEDEC, MIL-STD, etc.).
- Experience with life-test, environmental-stress equipment, and specifying stress test conditions and procedures.
- Experience designing burn-in boards, life-test boards, or reliability test schematics and debugging test hardware with bench instruments (oscilloscopes, DMMs, SMUs, thermal sensors).
- Hands-on failure analysis skills, including physical analysis and electronic fault isolation, and ability to link FA results to device physics, process, or design issues.
- Proficiency in reliability statistics and data analysis using tools such as Python, JMP, MATLAB, or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to lead structured problem-solving (8D, Six Sigma) and drive corrective/preventive actions.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to ~10% as required.
- Note: Candidates who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents may be subject to export-licensing review for access to certain technical data.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Microelectronics, or a related technical field.
