Job Title
Engineer - NAND Cell Reliability
Role Summary
The Reliability Engineer will design and execute electrical characterization and high-volume experiments to identify and mitigate NAND cell reliability issues. The role works cross-functionally with process and product engineers to validate process/trim/test solutions, support JEDEC and internal qualification, and inform the NAND technology roadmap.
Experience Level
Mid-level engineer. The position expects prior experience with NAND device structures and reliability analysis; no specific years of experience were stated.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include:
- Perform electrical characterization of NAND cell arrays and test structures to identify reliability issues.
- Design and coordinate high-volume electrical experiments at wafer and component levels.
- Segment and identify limiting reliability mechanisms impacting NAND quality.
- Perform statistical data analysis to validate process/trims solutions and quantify impact on performance and yield.
- Assess reliability risks against JEDEC and internal qualification requirements and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Provide continuous feedback and status updates to process development and product engineering teams.
- Contribute to forward-looking NAND technology pathfinding and capability projections.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Proven experience with NAND device structures, operations, and algorithms.
- Knowledge of electrical properties of semiconductor and insulator materials; semiconductor device and solid-state physics.
- In-depth understanding of physics-based modeling of non-volatile memory failure mechanisms and reliability analysis.
- Experience with statistical analysis and numerical computing tools (Matlab, Octave, JMP).
- Ability to script in languages such as C, C++, Matlab, or Perl.
- Familiarity with big data tools and database queries.
- Knowledge of JEDEC standards.
Education Requirements
PhD or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Microelectronics, Materials Science/Engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience.
