Engineer II, Test Engineering - Product Development

Role Summary

The Test Engineer in Product Development designs, develops, and implements test methods, diagnostic programs, and test fixtures to validate products through development and manufacturing. The role plans testing resources, defines procedures, and leads qualification efforts for assigned product lines.

This position works within the Product Development team under moderate guidance and focuses on improving test coverage, reliability, and manufacturability.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typically requires around 2+ years of relevant test engineering or related experience.

Responsibilities

Accountable for test strategy, implementation, and qualification activities throughout product development.

  • Design and implement comprehensive test cases and methodologies for product verification.
  • Create and run diagnostic test programs to detect performance issues.
  • Design and develop test fixtures, equipment, and PCB evaluation boards for test setups.
  • Document test setups, procedures, and specifications to ensure repeatable testing.
  • Plan and coordinate resources including labor, schedules, and equipment for testing activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in systems and test equipment.
  • Lead qualification testing to meet market and customer requirements.
  • Maintain and improve quality-assurance testing processes to meet standards.

Requirements

Core technical skills and experience required to perform the role.

  • Ability to design structured test methodologies and implement standard test principles.
  • Proficiency in creating and executing diagnostic programs across development phases.
  • Experience designing moderate-complexity test fixtures and measurement equipment.
  • Skill in writing clear test procedures and documenting setups for consistent results.
  • Experience estimating and coordinating testing resource requirements and schedules.
  • Analytical troubleshooting skills for moderately complex systems and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of quality standards and qualification testing methodologies.
  • Practical PCB design knowledge for test boards and evaluation setups.
  • May require export licensing review for applicants who are not U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or protected individuals.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience accepted.
