Role Summary
Member of the Applications team within Microchip's Secure Computing Group responsible for developing, testing, and supporting embedded firmware for secure Platform Root Of Trust products.
Primary activities include customer onboarding and support, hardware and system integration testing, cross-functional collaboration, and producing customer-facing application notes and technical demonstrations.
Experience Level
Mid-level β 3β5 years of relevant firmware development and embedded systems experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities for this individual contributor role:
- Develop, test, and improve embedded firmware for Secure Computing products.
- Support customer onboarding for Platform Root Of Trust devices with technical guidance and demos.
- Perform hardware integration, system integration, troubleshooting, and validation testing.
- Manage and resolve customer issues via a ticketing system and provide timely communication.
- Deliver technical demonstrations and present solutions to prospective and existing customers.
- Contribute to internal development and verification efforts for secure device firmware.
- Work with multi-site, cross-functional engineering teams.
- Develop customer application notes and integration guidance to support product adoption.

Must-have and preferred skills for successful candidates.
Must-have
- 3β5 years experience in firmware development and testing for embedded systems, microprocessors, or microcontrollers.
- Strong C programming skills in an embedded environment.
- Experience scripting in Python for tooling or test automation.
- Experience with deployment, verification, and validation of embedded software.
- Familiarity with cross-platform development, command-line build tools, and debugging workflows.
- Experience with embedded debugging tools (oscilloscope, debuggers, protocol analyzers).
- Knowledge of I2C, SPI or similar networking / real-time streaming protocols.
- Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivated, and effective verbal and written communication.
- Hands-on, individual contributor mindset.
Nice-to-have
- Familiarity with basic cryptography and security algorithms.
- Experience with ARM architecture, Linux, and command-line build tools.
- Experience with Chromium EC firmware, Zephyr Project, or FreeRTOS.
- Experience with MPLAB, Keil IDEs, or similar toolchains.
- Experience with security, Azure, or IoT platform integration.
