Engineer II - Product
Role Summary
Product Engineer for Microchip's Secure Products Group (SPG) based in Colorado Springs. Primary focus on new product development (NPD) and sustaining engineering for cryptographic hardware products used in Automotive, IoT, Medical, Consumer, and Industrial markets.
The role works cross-functionally with Product Design, Test Engineering, Quality, Failure Analysis, and Yield teams to validate silicon, ensure manufacturability, and support product releases into production.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically 2.5 to 5 years of industry experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include managing and supporting product development and production sustainment:
- Act as or support the Project Manager for new product development and product releases.
- Prepare project, characterization, and qualification plans and produce product documentation.
- Validate and characterize silicon; ensure devices are manufacturable and configured correctly for production.
- Monitor and sustain assigned products in production to maintain performance and profitability.
- Lead or participate in root-cause analysis and organized debugging of production and field issues.
- Provide technical assistance for customer returns and support cross-functional teams as needed.
- Track project progress from kickoff through release to production.

- Strong written and oral communication skills; able to present data clearly.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with setup and use of lab test equipment.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively with local and off-site cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
- Proficient with standard office computer equipment and business applications.
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with product life cycle processes and sustaining engineering practices.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE), or equivalent technical degree or equivalent practical experience.
