Engineer II - Product

Role Summary

The Product Engineer in Microchip's Secure Products Group (SPG) supports new product development (NPD) and sustaining engineering for cryptographic hardware products. The role works cross-functionally with Product Design, Test Engineering, Quality, Failure Analysis, and Yield teams to release and maintain production devices.

SPG products serve Automotive, IoT, Medical, Consumer, and Industrial markets.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” 2.5–5 years of industry experience expected.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include managing NPD projects and sustaining production products.

  • Act as or support Project Manager for new product development and release to production.
  • Own assigned production products to monitor performance, yield, and profitability.
  • Prepare and execute project, characterization, and qualification plans; maintain product documentation.
  • Validate and characterize silicon; ensure devices are manufacturable and correctly configured in production systems.
  • Debug hardware/process issues; lead root-cause analysis and problem-solving efforts.
  • Provide technical assistance for customer returns and cross-functional support as assigned.
  • Participate in NPD teams and track project progress from kickoff to production release.

  • Proven debug and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with product life cycles (preferred).
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with setup and use of laboratory test equipment.
  • Ability to analyze and present data clearly and concisely.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; able to work independently and with local and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient with standard office computer equipment and business applications.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE, MSEE) or equivalent technical degree, or equivalent practical experience. The posting specifies 2.5–5 years of industry experience as part of the qualification.
