Role Summary
Product Engineer II supporting Operation Product Engineering for the FPGA business unit in San Jose, CA. Responsible for failure analysis, yield enhancement, and support of manufacturing, qualification, and continuous improvement for current and next-generation FPGA/SoC products.
Experience Level
Entry-level (2.5+ years of relevant semiconductor industry experience).
Responsibilities
Key duties include analysis, debugging, and cross-functional support to improve product yield and reliability.
- Perform failure analysis and yield-enhancement activities for FPGA/SoC products.
- Characterize and evaluate on-chip components (microprocessors, SERDES, DDR, eNVM, SRAM, charge pumps, PLLs, analog I/Os).
- Complete pre- and post-silicon debug and verification tasks.
- Support manufacturing issues, electrical test analysis, and yield-improvement initiatives.
- Support qualification activities and electrical parameter assessment; assist silicon reliability experiments.
- Collaborate with Design, Technology Development, Customer Support, Product/Test Engineering, and Quality teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted.
- 2.5+ years of relevant experience in the semiconductor industry.
- Solid understanding of digital circuits, CMOS logic, VLSI design, and semiconductor physics.
- Design experience in Verilog or VHDL and familiarity with EDA tools (e.g., Synopsys, Cadence Virtuoso).
- Experience analyzing yield and electrical test data.
- Experience using electrical test and debug laboratory equipment.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills; self-motivated.
- Willingness to travel as required (0%β25%).
- Preferred: knowledge of FPGA or CPLDs; experience performing failure analysis and root-cause investigations; familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing and product qualification processes.
Education Requirements
B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
