Job Title

Engineer II - FPGA Verification

Role Summary

Join an FPGA verification team supporting development of high-reliability electronic systems for defense and space applications. The role verifies FPGA and SoC designs, implements SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches, and collaborates with architects, FPGA designers, and embedded software engineers across R&D and production programs.

The position reports into Space & Mission Systems and supports Tactical Solutions programs; it requires regular on-site presence (three or more days per week) with occasional travel between facilities.

Experience Level

Mid-level role. Typical requirement: at least 2 years of relevant experience in FPGA/ASIC verification or equivalent (see Education Requirements for equivalency rules).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design verification and delivery of reusable verification environments for FPGA/SoC projects.

  • Develop and execute FPGA verification plans, test matrices, and regression suites.
  • Design and implement SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches, UVM components, and constrained-random tests.
  • Verify FPGA designs including soft-core processors, digital filters, image processing, and communication interfaces.
  • Create reusable verification environments and unit- and system-level tests.
  • Write and collect functional coverage (coverpoints, crosses) and improve coverage metrics.
  • Collaborate with system architects, FPGA designers, and embedded software engineers to resolve issues.
  • Maintain documentation of verification activities and results; support program schedules and deliverables.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required for immediate contribution.

  • Strong FPGA/ASIC verification methodology and hands-on verification experience.
  • Proficient with SystemVerilog and UVM for verification development.
  • Experience designing class-based, object-oriented constrained-random testbenches.
  • Experience writing and collecting coverage; able to analyze and increase coverage of DUT.
  • Familiarity with electronic circuit design, digital systems, and SoC verification concepts.
  • Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain a predictable on-site work schedule and to travel between sites as needed.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with ModelSim or Questa simulators and C++ OOP.
  • Familiarity with Windows, Linux, and scripting (Python, TCL, Ruby).
  • Experience with high-speed digital electronics, signal processing/DSP, cybersecurity, or space/military programs.

Education Requirements

BS in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2+ years of related experience. A Master’s or PhD may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Degrees must be from an accredited institution. (Accreditation language and equivalent-experience options are specified in the source.)
