Job Title

Engineer II, Firmware Test Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and execute validation strategies and automation to verify SSD firmware quality and reliability. Work with firmware engineers, product teams, and validation engineers to analyze failures, improve test infrastructure, and deliver robust storage solutions at scale.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience: Bachelor's degree with 3–5 years relevant experience, or Master's degree with 1–3 years relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Key duties include:

  • Implement firmware verification strategies for customer requirements and NVMe protocol features (e.g., SMART, Trim, Get Log Page, OCP).
  • Investigate regression and field failures, perform root-cause analysis, and document findings.
  • Enhance test infrastructure, automation frameworks, CI/CD workflows, and reporting tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate validation with firmware and product development.
  • Leverage AI-assisted tools and copilots to optimize tests, triage failures, detect anomalies, and improve engineering productivity.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and skills:

  • Strong Python programming skills, including experience with NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, and test automation development.
  • Experience with test methodologies, automation concepts, and executing validation strategies.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and applying existing models or libraries to testing problems.
  • Proficiency with AI-enabled development tools and effective communication in multi-functional teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Experience implementing automation solutions in validation or test environments.
  • Understanding of embedded systems, firmware development, and storage technologies (NVMe, PCIe, NAND, SSD architectures).
  • Experience with C or Rust, Linux and Windows environments, and Git-based workflows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree with 3–5 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 1–3 years, in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
