Role Summary
Join Microchip's CAD group to develop and maintain design data management and automation tools that support System-on-Chip (SoC) projects. The role focuses on software development for design flows, automation scripts, and administration of design data systems.
Experience Level
Entry-level (Engineer I). 0-3 years of professional experience; suitable for final-year students or recent graduates.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing software and automation, administering design data systems, and supporting users.
- Develop and maintain design data management software and automation scripts.
- Implement and improve design flows and methodologies for SoC projects.
- Administer Design Data Management Systems such as DesignSync and ICManage.
- Debug, test, and maintain existing tools and systems.
- Research and integrate software tools and libraries, primarily using Python.
- Prepare technical documentation and train users on developed solutions.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred technical skills:
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language; Python preferred (Perl acceptable).
- Familiarity with GNU/Linux command-line operations.
- Version control experience (GIT, SVN, CVS) — preferred.
- Knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases — preferred.
- Exposure to machine learning or AI — nice to have.
- Willingness to adopt new development tools to improve collaboration and workflow.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education Requirements
Final-year student or recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Equivalent practical experience considered.
