Engineer I - Analog Design
MicrochipJob Title
Engineer I - Analog Design
Role Summary
Design and verify analog and mixed-signal integrated-circuit blocks within the Micrel R&D analog design team in San Jose. Work spans transistor-level design, simulation, silicon validation, and coordination with layout and system teams.
Experience Level
Entry-level (Engineer I). Typical early-career role; candidates often have limited industry experience and are building practical mixed-signal CMOS design skills.
Responsibilities
Primary engineering tasks and deliverables for the role:
- Design analog and mixed-signal building blocks (bias/reference, voltage regulators, PLL, ADC/DAC, op-amps, filters, high-speed SerDes, etc.).
- Perform circuit and mixed-signal simulations using CAD tools and circuit simulators.
- Verify function and performance at module and system levels; participate in design reviews and document results.
- Collaborate with layout designers to meet high-speed performance and design-rule requirements.
- Operate lab equipment to validate silicon against chip and system specifications.
- Participate in team design reviews and iterate designs based on test results.
Requirements
Key must-have skills and practical requirements. Preferred items are noted separately.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience in mixed-signal CMOS circuit design.
- Must-have: Experience with Cadence design environment and circuit simulators.
- Must-have: Experience with nanometer processes and FinFET transistor circuit design.
- Ability to perform mixed-signal simulations and analyze results.
- Experience operating lab equipment for silicon validation.
- Ability to work with layout engineers to meet timing and signal-integrity requirements.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (0%β25%).
- Nice-to-have: Prior experience with high-speed SerDes or system-level mixed-signal integration.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with specific process PDKs or foundry flows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree (BS) required. Field of study not specified in the posting.
