Engineer - HIG HBM PSE - Design Validation

Role Summary

As a Design Validation Product Engineer for High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), you will validate HBM designs from design through bring-up, qualification, and volume production. You will work across Design, Manufacturing, Test, and Quality teams and support customer-facing validation and qualification activities.

The role is within the Heterogeneous Integration Group (HIG) focused on stacked DRAM+logic HBM packages, high-speed signaling, and complex verification and validation workflows.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Seniority will be based on a combination of experience and education; prior hands-on validation, simulation, or lab-debug experience is expected.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include silicon validation, debugging, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Understand and apply JEDEC HBM specifications to validation activities.
  • Develop and maintain internal architecture documentation; interpret schematics and layouts.
  • Perform silicon validation using lab hardware/software debugging, circuit simulation, and data analysis.
  • Debug functional and performance issues across hardware and firmware layers.
  • Collaborate with product engineering and cross-functional teams (Design, Test, Manufacturing, Quality).
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of validation methodologies, tools, and workflows.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional behaviors; preferred skills listed separately.

  • Hands-on experience with schematic interpretation, circuit simulation, lab debugging, data analysis, or pattern manipulation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Efficient time management and productivity in project work.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Coursework or experience in VLSI and semiconductor process technology.
  • Programming experience in Python and C/C++.
  • Experience with Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog.
  • Self-motivation and a willingness to propose process or product improvements.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, is expected.
