Engineer, FW & Product Test Engineering
Role Summary
Validate enterprise SSD firmware through test development, automation, execution, and failure analysis. Work on the Firmware & Product Test team to improve testing efficiency, scalability, and product quality using automation, data-driven testing, and AI/ML techniques.
Experience Level
Mid-level (Engineer II). Typical background: approximately 3 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include designing tests, automating validation, and investigating failures for enterprise SSD firmware.
- Develop and implement firmware verification plans for NVMe features (e.g., SMART, Trim, Get Log Page, OCP).
- Design and implement test methodologies to validate firmware functionality and reliability.
- Analyze regression failures, perform root-cause analysis, and document findings and mitigation plans.
- Develop and enhance Python-based test automation, reporting, and data-collection tools within validation frameworks.
- Leverage AI-powered tools and machine learning techniques to improve test efficiency, failure detection, and validation workflows.
- Collaborate with firmware engineers, mentors, and data scientists to scale validation efforts.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Proficient in Python and experience with libraries such as NumPy, pandas, and scikit-learn.
- Experience with test automation, validation tools, and debugging complex technical issues.
- Working knowledge of machine learning fundamentals, including algorithms, training concepts, and evaluation metrics.
- Experience using AI-enabled tools or AI-assisted workflows to improve engineering productivity and test quality.
- Experience performing regression analysis and root-cause failure investigations.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Academic, research, or project experience in machine learning, data science, or AI.
- Understanding of embedded systems, firmware validation, or hardware testing concepts; familiarity with NVMe/storage protocols.
- Familiarity with Git, Agile methodologies, and modern software development practices.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Claude).
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with approximately 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree, in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
