Role Summary

Entry-level engineering role in Renesas's semiconductor design team focused on RTL and digital IP development for SoC/ASIC products. Work with verification, physical design, and software teams across the chip design lifecycle.

This position offers hands-on responsibility for small modules and verification tasks under mentorship from senior engineers.

Experience Level

Entry-level — recent graduates. Suitable for candidates at the start of their professional career or with limited industry experience.

Responsibilities

Key day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Assist in RTL design and development of digital blocks using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
• Support micro-architecture definition for simple modules under guidance.
• Collaborate with verification teams to ensure functional correctness and coverage.
• Perform basic design quality checks (lint, CDC, simulation) and debug simulation/integration issues.
• Document design specifications, test plans, and implementation notes.
• Learn and apply industry-standard EDA tools and methodologies.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes:

• Strong fundamentals in digital electronics, computer architecture, and logic design.
• Basic familiarity with HDL: Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
• Understanding of FSM design, timing concepts, and clocking.
• Familiarity with simulation tools (ModelSim, VCS, or similar).
• Programming or scripting exposure in at least one language: Python, C, C++, or shell.
• Analytical problem-solving, ability to learn quickly, and effective team communication.

Nice-to-have:

• Internship or academic project experience in VLSI / ASIC / FPGA design.
• FPGA prototyping experience (Xilinx/Intel) or basic verification concepts (testbench, assertions).
• Awareness of SoC integration concepts.

Education Requirements

B.Tech or M.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; graduates from IIT/NIT or other top-tier institutes preferred.
