Job Title

Engineer, Design - NAND Sequences and Algorithms

Role Summary

Develop and validate embedded control sequences and algorithms for advanced NAND Flash within the Non-Volatile NAND Design Engineering group. The role translates device and system requirements into low-level implementations and supports silicon bring-up, validation, and cross-functional integration.

Onsite position based in Avezzano, Italy, collaborating with architecture, logic, datapath, analog, test, and product teams to deliver scalable, manufacturable, and reliable NAND solutions.

Experience Level

Senior-level. No explicit years-of-experience specified.

Responsibilities

Deliver and support end-to-end sequence and algorithm development and validation.

  • Own requirements, architecture, implementation, verification, release, and post-silicon validation of NAND sequences and algorithms.
  • Develop embedded code for control, initialization, calibration, test, monitoring, recovery, and configuration.
  • Define and manage firmware–hardware interfaces: registers, handshakes, interrupts, error reporting, telemetry, and recovery flows.
  • Optimize command sequences and algorithms for latency, memory footprint, power, reliability, and backward compatibility.
  • Support silicon bring-up, debug, and root-cause analysis in collaboration with Logic, Test, Probe, Product Engineering, and Failure Analysis teams.
  • Apply AI-assisted tools and data-driven methods to automate workflows, analyze logs/telemetry, and accelerate development, debugging, and documentation.

Requirements

Must-have skills and preferred qualifications.

  • Hands-on experience developing digital solutions for hardware-controlled systems, SoCs, memories, or similar products. (must)
  • Strong understanding of microcontroller architectures, memory-mapped registers, interrupts, state machines, and hardware–firmware interaction. (must)
  • Experience with low-level debugging, unit and integration testing, version control, and scripting or automation using Python or equivalent. (must)
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills; ability to work effectively in global cross-functional teams. (must)
  • Preferred: experience with NAND Flash or other non-volatile memories, storage controllers, or embedded memory systems, including sequence or algorithm development.
  • Preferred: familiarity with RTL simulation, FPGA/emulation platforms, silicon bring-up, and low-level communication protocols.

Education Requirements

M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
