Engineer CE PYE (Physical Failure Analysis & Fault Isolation)

Role Summary

Join Central Engineering (CE) - Product Yield Enhancement (PYE) to perform fault isolation and physical failure analysis supporting qualifications, customer returns, new device introductions and test failures. The role focuses on electrical characterization, fault isolation, physical analysis and driving corrective actions with Product, Process Integration, Test and Quality teams.

This position requires developing and applying FA/FI techniques, presenting findings to stakeholders, and coordinating tool uptime and process improvements.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Perform electrical device characterization to determine failure mechanisms.
  • Operate fault isolation equipment to localize defect locations.
  • Conduct physical failure analysis to identify and classify physical defects.
  • Formulate and validate hypotheses for electrical/process failure mechanisms and recommend process improvements.
  • Collaborate with frontend/backend teams, Process Integration, Product, Test and Global Quality to resolve defectivity issues.
  • Prepare and present technical failure analysis reports and findings on a regular basis.
  • Develop and implement new fault isolation and physical failure analysis techniques.
  • Coordinate maintenance and ensure high uptime of FI/FA tools.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills:

  • Must-have: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication and presentation ability, proven team collaboration, self-motivated, ability to support shift rotations.
  • Nice-to-have: Practical knowledge of fault isolation equipment and physical failure analysis techniques.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with NAND/DRAM/HBM devices and fab processes.
  • Beneficial: Exposure to AI/machine learning or data analytics applied to engineering/manufacturing for fault isolation or process optimization.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Material Science, or equivalent practical experience.
