Emulation Methodology Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Emulation Methodology Engineer
Role Summary
The Emulation Methodology Engineer will develop and apply emulation and methodology techniques to support ASIC/IP development and validation for high-performance, low-power SoC products. The role works within the ASICS Engineering team and collaborates with hardware, software, and verification teams to ensure designs meet system requirements.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Minimum experience expectations in the posting include 1β2+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, or integration experience, with preferred candidates having 3+ years and experience with architecture/design and scripting tools.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include implementing emulation/methodology solutions and supporting ASIC/IP delivery across design flows.
- Define, model, design, optimize, verify, validate, implement, and document IP (block/SoC) development.
- Create architectures, circuit specifications, logic designs, and system simulations from system-level requirements.
- Develop and execute implementation strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams (software, hardware, verification).
- Evaluate and improve process flows across high-level design to synthesis, place-and-route, timing, power, and verification (or equivalent custom design/layout flows).
- Use EDA and emulation tools (e.g., RTL-to-GDS flow, Virtuoso) to enable architecture and design of blocks, SoCs, or IC packages.
- Write and maintain detailed technical documentation for EDA/IP/ASIC projects.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; degrees and formal education are listed below in Education Requirements.
- Hands-on ASIC design, verification, validation, or integration experience.
- Experience with architecture and design tools and flows.
- Proficiency with scripting and programming for design/verification automation.
- Experience with design verification methods and emulation/methodology practices.
- Familiarity with RTL-to-GDS flows, Virtuoso, or equivalent EDA toolchains.
- Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and collaborate across teams.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 2+ years ASIC experience, OR Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 1+ year ASIC experience, OR PhD in Science or Engineering. Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. (The posting frames degree options explicitly; no specific certifications were listed.)
