Job Title

Emulation Engineer / Emulation Platform Engineer - Senior

Role Summary

Senior emulation engineer working on ASIC/SoC emulation and platform integration to validate high-performance, low-power IP and chip designs. The role sits in the ASIC engineering group and collaborates with architecture, software, and verification teams to enable block/SoC implementation and bringup.

Experience Level

Senior - role expects experienced engineers. Minimum experience guidance from the posting indicates 2+ years ASIC-related experience with a Bachelor's (or 1+ year with a Master's); preferred candidates have 3+ years of ASIC design/verification/validation experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include architecture, design, verification, and platform enablement for emulation and ASIC projects.

  • Define, model, design (digital and/or analog), optimize, verify, validate, implement, and document IP (block/SoC) for high-performance, low-power products.
  • Create architectures, circuit specifications, logic designs, and system simulations from system-level requirements.
  • Collaborate with software and hardware architecture teams to develop and execute implementation strategies.
  • Evaluate and guide flow from high-level design through synthesis, place-and-route, timing, power, and verification (or equivalent custom design/layout flow).
  • Use RTL-to-GDS and EDA tools (e.g., Virtuoso) to enable architecture and design of blocks, SoCs, or IC packages.
  • Produce detailed technical documentation for EDA/IP/ASIC projects and support cross-team communication.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Experience with ASIC design, verification, validation, or integration (posting guidance: minimums tied to degree; preferred 3+ years).
  • Experience with architecture and design tools, including RTL-to-GDS flows and EDA toolchains.
  • Experience with scripting and programming for automation and tooling (e.g., Python, TCL, or similar).
  • Familiarity with design verification methods and integration/validation practices.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to communicate technical results clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Producing technical documentation and collaborating across disciplines (hardware, software, verification).

Education Requirements

Minimum qualifications specify a Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field with 2+ years ASIC experience, OR a Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field with 1+ year ASIC experience, OR a PhD in Science or Engineering. Preferred fields include Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
