Embedded SW Developer Intern - Security
Role Summary
Internship position on the embedded security software team based in Brno or Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. The team develops secure firmware and security features (secure boot, secure update, cryptography, hardware-backed security) for embedded products.
Work includes implementing CI/CD components, writing tests, debugging low-level issues, and collaborating with architects and cross-functional teams to meet product security requirements.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship for students. Part-time role designed to accommodate studies; no specific years of professional experience required.
Responsibilities
Primary tasks and contributions expected from the intern:
- Develop CI/CD components for embedded security software.
- Implement unit and integration tests to verify product quality.
- Work with simulated virtual environments, FPGAs, and actual hardware.
- Debug complex issues that span hardware and low-level software domains.
- Support secure boot, update mechanisms, and integration of cryptographic primitives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define security requirements and mitigate risks.
- Support tasks related to product security certifications and controlled development processes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and behaviors for successful performance in this internship:
- Must-have: Practical experience with scripting (Python, Jenkins/YAML, batch scripting) and familiarity with CI tools.
- Must-have: Practical embedded programming experience in C and enthusiasm for low-level work close to hardware.
- Must-have: Good understanding of microcontroller architecture fundamentals and reliable debugging skills for embedded targets.
- Must-have: Working knowledge of Git or other version control systems.
- Must-have: Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken.
- Must-have: Interest in embedded security and willingness to learn security engineering practices.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Rust.
- Nice-to-have: Experience working with simulated environments, FPGAs, or hardware bring-up.
- Behavioral: Strong analytical thinking, structured work style, ownership mindset, and ability to work in a team.
