Embedded Software Engineer - RISC-V

Role Summary

Join the GPU Software team to design and implement RISCV board support package (BSP) features for NVIDIA GPUs. The role focuses on low-level embedded software, firmware and driver development, early modeling/simulation, and cross-functional collaboration with hardware and system teams.

Experience Level

Senior β€” 8+ years of software development experience, with significant embedded systems experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing, implementing, and verifying RISCV controller software and associated BSP components.

  • Define, design, develop, and verify firmware and software features for RISCV controllers on NVIDIA GPUs.
  • Develop and maintain device drivers and low-level embedded software used across product lines.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers on modeling, simulation, and bring-up activities.
  • Drive the development lifecycle from early modeling through customer product validation.
  • Produce documentation, support debugging and tooling, and communicate effectively across global teams.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical qualifications.

Must-have:

  • 8+ years of meaningful software development experience, especially with embedded systems.
  • Strong C programming skills and hands-on embedded/device driver development experience.
  • Familiarity with computer system architecture and microprocessor fundamentals (caches, buses, memory controllers, DMA).
  • Experience with modeling, simulation, and hardware bring-up workflows.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with hardware and global software teams and produce clear technical documentation.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with the RISC-V architecture and Rust programming language.
  • Experience with toolchains and debuggers (gcc, gdb) and RTOS or overlay programming models.
  • Experience with emulation, simulation, and the hardware development cycle.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field β€” or equivalent practical experience.
