Job Title

Embedded Software Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the Products and Integration team in the Core Platform development group (QCT). Integrate device drivers and peripheral software, triage and debug system-level issues, and collaborate with hardware, systems engineering, program management, and product leads to deliver mobile chipset software that meets power and performance targets.

Experience Level

Entry-level. Minimum experience guidance: Bachelor's + 2+ years, Master's + 1+ year, or PhD (see Education Requirements for details).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Work with cross-functional software teams to verify and debug software stability issues and implement features.
  • Design and implement scalable build system software and tools to generate product images.
  • Integrate drivers and peripheral software and validate system-level functionality.
  • Collaborate with hardware and systems engineering to meet power and performance KPIs.
  • Coordinate with program management and product leads to develop software roadmaps and delivery plans to reduce time to market.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Experience in embedded software development and device drivers.
  • Proficiency in C and C++; experience with assembly language.
  • Experience with software integration, source control, and testing.
  • Working knowledge of real-time operating systems and CPU architecture.
  • Experience with build systems (for example, SCons) and build tooling.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Perl or Python.
  • Experience using JTAG for on-chip debugging and strong debugging skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Position is not eligible for Qualcomm immigration sponsorship.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with power/performance optimization and cross-functional HW/SW collaboration.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field plus 2+ years of software engineering or related work experience; OR Master's degree in those fields plus 1+ year of relevant experience; OR PhD in those fields. Related fields or equivalent practical experience are acceptable per the posting.
