Embedded Software Engineer - DPU Platform
Role Summary
Work on system and platform software for NVIDIA DPU (data processing unit) platforms used in data centers. The role focuses on firmware, boot loaders, kernel drivers, and user-space components across SOC-based designs.
The position is part of a worldwide, matrixed embedded-platform team collaborating with hardware and product teams to deliver high-performance, production-quality platform software.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early-career β typically 2+ years of professional experience developing software for embedded systems.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include development, integration, and support of system-level software for DPU platforms.
- Develop processor firmware, boot-loaders, kernel drivers/modules, and user-space applications and libraries.
- Collaborate with hardware and product design teams to implement software for SOC platforms.
- Support global customer and internal DPU projects and provide ongoing maintenance.
- Investigate and resolve system-level performance and resource-utilization issues.
- Participate across the product development lifecycle with emphasis on requirements, software quality, and performance.
- Contribute within a worldwide, matrixed software development organization.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.
- 2+ years of experience developing software for embedded systems.
- Proficiency in C and Python.
- Solid understanding of software/hardware interactions across platform firmware, device drivers, Linux kernel, and user-space performance.
- Knowledge of high-performance processor architecture, CPU and cache-coherency concepts, and hardware accelerators.
- Strong engineering practices: debugging, building, testing, and working in agile processes.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with build and integration tools such as gcc, git, GitHub, make, bitbake, shell scripting, Gerrit, and Jenkins.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with ARMv8 microarchitecture, ATF, and/or UEFI.
- Experience across multiple Linux distributions and the ability to compare them.
- Knowledge of secure boot flows or trusted computing environments.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
