Embedded Audio Software Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and integrate embedded audio software and firmware for next-generation consumer devices. Work with cross-functional teams (hardware, DSP, systems, applications, and customer engineering) to bring up platforms, validate audio performance, and deliver production-quality audio solutions.

Hands-on role focused on embedded firmware, device drivers, system bring-up, automated testing, and practical use of AI-assisted tools to accelerate engineering work.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop, optimize, and deploy embedded software and device drivers for audio ICs.
  • Implement, test, and debug audio software and firmware on embedded platforms.
  • Assist with audio system integration and bring-up on Linux, Windows, Android, and embedded platforms.
  • Develop automated tests, validation frameworks, and audio test procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve software and system issues with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with hardware, DSP, systems, applications, and customer engineering teams to deliver solutions.
  • Use modern software development practices: source control, code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration.
  • Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate development, debugging, test generation, and documentation while applying engineering judgment and verification.
  • Continuously learn new technologies and contribute to improving development processes and productivity.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • Experience in embedded software, firmware, or audio software development (industry, internships, or academic projects).
  • Proficient in C/C++ and Python.
  • Familiarity with Git and modern IDEs; comfortable with code review and basic CI workflows.
  • Basic understanding of embedded systems, operating systems, or computer architecture.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
  • Interest in using AI-assisted software development tools responsibly to improve productivity.

Nice-to-have:

  • Embedded Linux or RTOS development experience.
  • ALSA audio drivers and Android Audio Framework experience.
  • Digital Signal Processing (DSP) knowledge.
  • Familiarity with audio interfaces (I2S, TDM, USB Audio, PDM, PCM).
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD environments.
  • GUI application development, audio tuning, acoustic measurement, or audio analysis tools.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. The posting also accepts equivalent practical experience demonstrated via academic projects, internships, research, or industry work.
