Electronics Engineer
PsiQuantumJob Title
Electronics Engineer
Role Summary
Design and implement high-performance electronic and electro-optic systems to control and read out quantum photonic hardware. Work on RF, electro-optic modulation, low-latency control, and integration with photonics and detector subsystems.
Join cross-functional teams including photonics, FPGA, and quantum engineers to deliver hardware used in scalable quantum computing systems.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting does not specify years of experience; candidates should be comfortable working with senior engineers on complex RF and high-speed electronics designs.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop RF and high-speed electronic systems for quantum hardware applications.
- Support electro-optic (EO) package and modulator driver electronics development.
- Develop low-latency electronics for system control and readout.
- Design and support readout electronics for superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors (SNSPDs).
- Collaborate with photonics and quantum teams to integrate electronics with optical systems.
- Contribute to FPGA-based control and data acquisition system design and implementation.
- Participate in debugging, testing, and optimization of complex hardware systems.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred skills for the role.
- Must have: Strong background in RF and high-speed electronic design, including signal integrity, noise mitigation, and timing.
- Must have: Hands-on laboratory experience with electronic test and measurement equipment.
- Must have: Experience with electro-optic systems or photonic hardware integration.
- Nice to have: Experience designing electronics for quantum or cryogenic systems.
- Nice to have: Familiarity with FPGA development and programming for control/data acquisition.
- Nice to have: Knowledge of superconducting nanowire detectors and their readout electronics.
- Nice to have: Experience with ASIC design or collaboration with ASIC teams for high-speed or low-latency systems.
Education Requirements
Degree: PhD or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field. "Or equivalent experience" language is acceptable.
