Electronic System Engineer - Senior
Role Summary
Design and validate high-speed electro-optical links and their electrical integration into complex systems. Work with photonics and product teams to translate component specifications into system-level electrical requirements and ensure manufacturable, testable designs.
Role based at the Palaiseau site, contributing to development of laser driver circuits, photodiode readouts, RF architecture and system verification for AI-focused optical interposers.
Experience Level
Senior level. Target experience: approximately 5–10 years of relevant industrial experience in electronic system design, preferably in optical communications or high-speed interconnects.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include system architecture, design, validation and cross-functional integration.
- Define RF system architectures for high-speed optical links and optimize signal integrity and overall performance.
- Specify electrical interfaces between optical components (lasers, detectors) and electronic subsystems.
- Develop system-level specifications that map component performance to integrated link requirements.
- Design and optimize laser driver circuits and photodiode readout electronics, including transimpedance amplifiers.
- Plan and execute system-level characterization and performance verification versus specifications.
- Develop and validate models for architecture-level simulations; analyze test data to identify bottlenecks and propose design improvements.
- Collaborate with photonics, product and manufacturing teams to ensure technical feasibility and support integration during product development.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- 5–10 years industrial experience in electronic system design for high-speed links or related fields.
- Deep understanding of RF/high-frequency circuit design, signal integrity and EMC.
- Proficiency in analog and mixed-signal design: amplifiers, filters, high-speed interfaces.
- Hands-on experience designing laser driver circuits and transimpedance amplifiers for photodetectors.
- Experience with system integration and defining/validating electrical subsystem interfaces.
- Familiarity with high-speed test equipment: oscilloscopes, network analyzers and optical instrumentation.
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, independent working ability and effective cross-team communication.
- Professional proficiency in English. French is a plus.
- Nice-to-have: Python programming skills.
Education Requirements
Engineer degree, Masters degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or a related technical field; a PhD is valued but not mandatory if compensated by significant industrial R&D experience. Equivalent practical/industrial experience will be considered.
