Electrical FPGA Engineer 1
Role Summary
Entry-level FPGA engineer supporting digital architecture, RTL design, verification, and implementation for ASIC/FPGA/MPSoC platforms within Collins Aerospace (RTX). Work is primarily onsite in Melbourne, FL. No security clearance is required; immigration sponsorship is available if needed.
Experience Level
Entry-level (Engineer 1). Recent graduates or engineers with early-career experience; qualifications expect education and/or project/research/on-the-job experience sufficient to perform RTL design and FPGA flow tasks.
Responsibilities
Primary engineering tasks and deliverables:
- Capture, decompose, and trace requirements for digital designs.
- Develop digital architecture for ASIC/FPGA/MPSoC designs.
- Implement RTL and testbenches using VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog.
- Create verification testcases and procedures for simulation environments.
- Write placement and timing constraints; perform synthesis and place-and-route flows.
- Perform static timing analysis, linting, LEC, and clock-domain-crossing analysis.
- Verify designs using inspection, simulation, analysis, and test methods.
- Prepare DO-254 certification artifacts for Airborne Electronic Hardware where applicable.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and background (minimum qualifications):
- Experience writing RTL and testbenches in VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
- Familiarity with FPGA design and verification tools (examples: Questasim, Vivado, Libero, Synplify Pro).
- Experience with Linux/Unix and scripting; proficiency with C/C++, Python, and/or Perl.
- Ability to work on a team with supervision and communicate across distributed project teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with DO-254 processes and design assurance for ASIC/FPGA/MPSoC.
- Experience with common data interfaces (PCIe, DDR, I2C, Ethernet, CDN, ARINC-429, etc.).
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM major required prior to start. The posting allows that experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects (i.e., equivalent practical experience may satisfy education/experience expectations).
