Job Title
Electrical Engineer, Manufacturing Test (Intel Systems - Arsenal)
Role Summary
Design and build test systems and PCBA platforms to validate and qualify products for manufacturing within the Intelligence Systems team. Work on data acquisition, physical-layer interfaces, FPGA and MCU platforms, and test automation to ensure production-quality hardware.
Role includes a temporary 3-month training period in Santa Ana, CA, then transition to Ashville, OH for ongoing work.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically requires 5+ years of relevant industry experience with product designs that have gone to manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Deliver and maintain hardware and test infrastructure used in manufacturing verification and production test.
- Design circuits, schematics, and PCBA assemblies for test automation platforms and production validation.
- Integrate designs into product data management (PDM/PLM) workflows and release hardware for production.
- Architect and source board-level test fixtures and integrate with internal and off-the-shelf data acquisition equipment.
- Develop wiring harnesses, breakout modules, and peripheral interfaces for test systems.
- Coordinate with firmware and software teams for board bring-up, BSP, and embedded RTOS/ Linux support.
- Bring up, debug, and characterize circuits and interfaces (I2C, SPI, CAN, USB, RF, memory, etc.).
- Improve test automation, throughput, user interfaces, and data analytics for manufacturing test processes.
Requirements
Essential technical skills, security, and manufacturing experience required for the role.
- 5+ years of industry experience working on product designs taken to manufacturing (experience with contract manufacturers is acceptable).
- Proficiency with professional EDA tools for schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium, Cadence, PADS, or similar).
- Strong PCBA design skills and DFM/DFT awareness; ability to fabricate prototypes or direct contract manufacturing.
- Familiarity with electronics test equipment: oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, function generators, spectrum analyzers, and data acquisition hardware.
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems and production release processes.
- Experience debugging low-speed and high-speed interfaces; experience with FPGA-based data-acquisition platforms is valuable.
- Ability to write scripts (Python) for automation and test configuration is preferred but not mandatory.
- Must currently possess and be able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Preferred: Master of Science in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field.
