Job Title
Electrical Engineer, Manufacturing Test
Role Summary
Join the Manufacturing organization to design and build PCBA platforms, fixtures, and test systems that validate product readiness for production. The role focuses on hardware design, data acquisition, physical-layer interfaces (FPGA, MCU), and test automation to ensure product quality and manufacturing throughput.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 5+ years of relevant industry experience with emphasis on designs that reached production.
Responsibilities
Work with cross-functional teams to develop test hardware, integrate with production systems, and improve automation and data collection.
- Design circuits and schematics for automated test platforms and fixtures.
- Design and source PCB assemblies from FPGA-based data-acquisition boards to MCU interface and peripheral modules.
- Integrate designs into PDM/PLM systems and follow product release processes for production.
- Architect and source test fixtures and integrate with off-the-shelf data-acquisition equipment.
- Develop and maintain internal libraries for test circuits; apply DFM/DFT best practices.
- Bring up, debug, and characterize circuits and interfaces (I2C, SPI, CAN, RF, memory, USB).
- Collaborate with firmware engineers to enable board support packages and MCU RTOS bring-up.
- Improve test automation, throughput, user interfaces, and data analytics for manufacturing.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and qualifications for success in this role.
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience, with emphasis on product designs that entered manufacturing.
- Experience with professional electronics design tools (Altium, Cadence, PADS, or similar) for schematic capture and layout.
- Proven PCBA design and fabrication knowledge; able to guide contract manufacturing.
- Familiarity with electronics test equipment: power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, function generators, spectrum analyzers, and data-acquisition sensors.
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems and releasing designs for production.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Nice-to-have:
- Python scripting for configuration and automation of test setups.
- Experience with FPGA PCBA platforms: RTL, synthesis, and bare-metal coding.
- Active security clearance; 7+ years industry experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field is required. A Master of Science in Electrical/Electronics Engineering is preferred.
