Electrical Engineer Intern
Role Summary
Provides engineering support for the design, integration, testing, and documentation of ruggedized radar and communication systems. Works with cross-functional teams to develop hardware, firmware, and software while gaining practical engineering experience.
Experience Level
Internship / Entry-level β position for students pursuing graduate degrees; prior internship, laboratory, or research experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities performed under the guidance of experienced engineers include:
- Assist with FPGA firmware development, verification, and testing.
- Support electronic circuit design and PCB schematic capture and layout.
- Develop and test embedded software and participate in hardware/software integration.
- Assemble and characterize electronic subassemblies; conduct system and environmental testing.
- Perform data analysis, produce technical documentation, and contribute to design reviews.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, procurement, technicians, and external vendors.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred skills, with must-haves listed first:

Must: U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a government security investigation.

Must: Fundamental understanding of analog and digital circuit design.

Must: Basic knowledge of embedded software development and firmware concepts; familiarity with FPGA architecture.

Must: Basic familiarity with PCB schematic capture and layout and ability to read schematics and engineering drawings.

Must: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective verbal and written communication; ability to work independently and in teams.

Must: Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred: Experience with C/C++, Python, MATLAB; FPGA tools (Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus); PCB tools (Altium, OrCAD, KiCad); DSP, RF, or communications systems; and electronic lab equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer).
Education Requirements
Accepted into or currently pursuing a Master of Science or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
