Electrical Engineer - Analog & Mixed-Signal
Voyant PhotonicsJob Title
Electrical Engineer - Analog & Mixed-Signal
Role Summary
Early-career hardware engineer responsible for analog and mixed-signal electronics for compact LiDAR modules. Work on schematic design, lab bring-up, validation, and cross-functional integration under mentorship from senior engineers.
Experience Level
Entry-level - 0–3 years of hands-on hardware experience (internships, co-ops, and substantial academic or personal projects qualify).
Responsibilities
Primary day-to-day responsibilities include design support, test, and integration of analog/mixed-signal hardware.
- Support analog and mixed-signal circuit design: TIAs, ADCs, precision current sources, LDOs and switching regulators, with senior engineer guidance.
- Assist with schematic capture, component selection, and coordinate PCB layout.
- Perform bring-up, characterization, and EVT/DVT validation per test plans; document results.
- Execute basic signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC checks with review.
- Use lab equipment (GHz-range oscilloscopes, VNAs, spectrum analyzers, precision supplies) and develop measurement proficiency.
- Collaborate with system architects, mechanical, and firmware teams for system integration.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution; preferred items listed separately.
- 0–3 years of hands-on hardware experience (industry internships, co-ops, or significant academic/personal projects).
- Solid grounding in analog and digital circuit design fundamentals.
- Comfort working in a lab environment and performing hands-on measurements.
- Exposure to schematic capture tools (Altium or similar) and basic SPICE simulation.
- Familiarity with fundamental test equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies.
Nice-to-have:
- Coursework or project experience in photonics, optics, or sensing systems.
- Exposure to PCB layout, FPGA/microcontroller integration, or Verilog/Verilog-AMS.
- Experience with RF or analog/RF personal projects, robotics teams, or research.
- Startup experience and a bias toward fast iteration and hands-on problem solving.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Practical experience via internships, co-ops, or substantial academic/personal projects is considered relevant for early-career candidates.
Benefits
- Competitive base salary and equity.
- Comprehensive health benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision).
- Unlimited PTO and paid company holidays.
- Team events and company meetups.
