Electrical Design Engineer β Semiconductor Equipment
Role Summary
Design and implement FPGA-based embedded control systems and associated power/electronic subsystems for semiconductor capital equipment. Work on-site in a cross-functional team (systems, software, electrical, mechanical) and take ownership of HW/SW/FPGA partitioning, architecture, and system integration into customer facilities.
Experience Level
Mid-level (mid-career).
Responsibilities
Primary engineering responsibilities for electronic and control-system design in semiconductor equipment.
- Design, develop, modify, and evaluate electronic parts, components, and integrated circuitry for equipment.
- Develop FPGA architectures and implement logic for embedded control, including HW/SW/FPGA partitioning.
- Define and implement interfaces for sensors, actuators, and industrial peripherals.
- Analyze equipment performance, run experimental tests, and evaluate results to verify designs.
- Select components and verify vendor capability to support product development.
- Collaborate with systems, software, electrical, and mechanical teams; support system integration at customer sites.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain experience.
- Experience in FPGA design and implementation for embedded control systems (AMD Vivado, SystemVerilog).
- Embedded debugging skills and experience interfacing to sensors, actuators, and industrial peripherals.
- Semiconductor capital equipment power distribution design experience.
- Experience with PCB design process.
- Familiarity with system design models such as the Systems "VEE" and system-level partitioning.
- Understanding of system integration into customer facilities and willingness to travel internationally.
- Strong problem solving, ownership, leadership, and collaboration skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Previous work on semiconductor processing equipment or large-scale capital systems.
