Job Title
Electrical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design mixed-signal electrical subsystems for instrumented wafer products in the SensArray division, working across firmware, systems, mechanical, manufacturing, and product teams.
Own technical problems from concept through production, including architecture decisions, hardware integration, validation, and production release activities.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically requires 3+ years of relevant electronic hardware design experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver electrical subsystem designs, drive hardware verification, and support cross-discipline integration.
- Design and develop mixed-signal analog and digital circuitry for sensing and embedded applications.
- Define electrical architectures and evaluate tradeoffs for performance, power, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
- Select and integrate sensors, ADCs, microcontrollers, memory, batteries, communication interfaces, and power-management components.
- Create schematics and drive PCB/substrate development through design reviews and release.
- Develop system-level performance requirements, error budgets, and measurement specifications.
- Define calibration strategies and support measurement traceability and accuracy.
- Develop and execute validation plans, electrical characterization, and design verification testing.
- Lead technical investigations, troubleshoot complex hardware issues, and perform root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate with firmware, systems, mechanical, manufacturing, and product engineering throughout the product lifecycle.
Requirements
Key qualifications and skills for independently delivering electrical subsystem designs.
Must-have:
- 3+ years of experience designing and developing electronic hardware products.
- Experience with mixed-signal circuit design (analog and digital).
- Experience creating schematics and supporting PCB design and integration.
- Hands-on laboratory experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, and other test equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; experience driving technical investigations and root-cause analysis.
- Ability to execute subsystem designs independently with limited supervision.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with precision sensor interfaces and analog front-end design.
- Experience with low-power or battery-powered electronics and energy management.
- Familiarity with SPI, I²C, UART, RF, BLE, or optical communication interfaces.
- Experience with PCB tools such as Altium, OrCAD, Cadence, or PADS.
- Experience with simulation and analysis tools such as LTspice, ADS, HyperLynx, MATLAB, or Python.
- Experience supporting products through development, qualification, and production release; background in semiconductor equipment, instrumentation, robotics, medical devices, or industrial automation is beneficial.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline. Minimum-experience mapping in the posting: PhD with 0 years related experience; Master's with approximately 3 years; Bachelor's with approximately 5 years. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable where noted.
