Role Summary

Provide technical leadership and engineering ownership for Electrical Failure Analysis (EFA) supporting NPI, qualification builds, and high-volume manufacturing. Serve as the technical focal point across shifts to ensure analysis quality, consistency, and timely decisions.

Own FA readiness for new products (tools, kits, methods, documentation) and drive systemic improvements to reduce recurring failures.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical background: several years of failure-analysis or test-engineering experience; hiring guidance indicates >5 years of related EFA/PFA experience or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day EFA operations, mentor technicians, and translate product transfer knowledge into manufacturing-ready FA practices.

  • Supervise shift technicians and coordinate cross-shift activities.
  • Partner with APTD teams to capture and institutionalize FA knowledge during product transfer.
  • Define and maintain EFA kits, tooling, methods, and training to ensure lab readiness for HVM ramp.
  • Perform and own complex EFA investigations and high-impact escalations.
  • Apply and interpret advanced FA tools (IV curve tracer, micro-prober, bench tester) and correlate ATE, bench, and FA data.
  • Coach technicians on EFA techniques, troubleshooting, and data-driven dispositions.
  • Drive improvements to reduce repeat SBL events and improve analysis consistency.

Requirements

Key must-have skills and expectations.

  • Strong background in failure analysis, test-engineering support, or manufacturing troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with advanced FA tools and data correlation across test systems.
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear engineering decisions and disposition actions.
  • Willingness to provide off-hour support for critical shift-impacting issues as needed.
  • Communication skills to explain technical issues to operators, engineers, and managers; mentoring experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to improve troubleshooting and decision-making is expected.

Education Requirements

Degree in Engineering preferred (e.g., electrical, electronic, or related engineering) OR more than 5 years of relevant EFA/PFA experience; equivalent practical experience accepted.
