Edge & Physical AI Software Product Manager / Director
NXP SemiconductorsJob Title
Edge & Physical AI Software Product Manager / Director
Role Summary
Lead the product strategy and execution for NXP's NPU software stack and developer platform, covering the full stack from compiler and model tooling to runtime, SDKs, and eIQ integration. Work across engineering, go-to-market, partners, and customers to deliver model support, developer enablement, and unified compiler workflows.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires 8+ years of AI product management experience in software, developer tools, or AI/ML infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Own product direction, enablement, and partner strategy for NXP's NPU software and developer experience.
- Define and maintain the NPU software product roadmap across compiler pipeline, optimization tools, runtime/execution engine, SDK/APIs, model management, and eIQ integration.
- Build a scalable platform/toolkit to support modern model architectures (CNNs, LLMs, ViTs, VLMs) and enable Day‑0 model support over time.
- Maintain model/operator support matrix; prioritize and close gaps with engineering; curate, compile, quantize, benchmark, and publish validated models.
- Define an integrated compiler strategy and unify NXP AI products onto a common workflow; manage upstream open-source integration (TVM, MLIR/LLVM, ONNX Runtime, export paths).
- Own developer experience end‑to‑end: SDK installation, model import, compilation, profiling, debugging, deployment, and adoption-funnel metrics.
- Coordinate with GTM and pre-sales to prioritize verticals, define enablement strategy, and deliver system-level solutions and demonstration platforms.
- Manage framework and ISV partner relationships (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, ONNX Runtime) and support external integrations and licensing.
- Run beta and early-access programs with strategic developers; translate feedback into prioritized engineering requirements.
- Define software versioning, backward compatibility policy, and long-term support (LTS) strategy; perform competitive benchmarking.
- Maintain working knowledge of firmware and host drivers (PCIe, USB) and heterogeneous execution across CPU/GPU/accelerators.
Requirements
Core qualifications and technical skills required or strongly preferred.
- Must-have: 8+ years of AI product management experience owning software roadmaps and developer-facing APIs.
- Must-have: Strong understanding of the inference deployment pipeline (training frameworks such as PyTorch/TensorFlow, model exchange formats like ONNX/TFLite, and inference runtimes).
- Must-have: Familiarity with compiler toolchain concepts (graph optimization, operator fusion, quantization, code generation) and ability to write actionable requirements and evaluate tradeoffs.
- Must-have: Experience defining and tracking developer adoption metrics (SDK downloads, model compilations, active deployments, support metrics).
- Must-have: Track record driving open-source or partner ecosystem strategy and managing ISV or community programs.
- Must-have: Strong prioritization discipline and experience managing a large backlog across multiple engineering teams.
- Must-have: Excellent technical communication skills (developer-facing API specs and executive strategy documents).
- Nice-to-have: Practical experience with MLIR, TVM, ONNX Runtime, or other ML compiler frameworks.
- Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with model quantization (INT8/INT4/FP16), calibration workflows, and accuracy validation.
- Nice-to-have: Background with NPU/GPU/inference accelerator stacks and heterogeneous execution environments.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with embedded Linux, Android, or RTOS for edge deployment and familiarity with automotive standards (AUTOSAR, ASPICE), functional safety, and security.
Education Requirements
Good-to-have: MBA or advanced degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related discipline. Not listed as required; relevant advanced degrees are considered a plus.
