Job Title

Edge & Physical AI Hardware Product Manager / Director

Role Summary

Lead product definition, roadmap and business strategy for NPU silicon (discrete, i.MX-integrated IP, and chiplet-based architectures). Collaborate with silicon architects, SoC teams, software, and customers to translate requirements into silicon specifications and to drive design wins across product generations.

Experience Level

Senior - 10+ years of product management or product strategy experience in semiconductor or silicon IP (as specified).

Responsibilities

Accountable for hardware product roadmap, specifications, and lifecycle from definition through ramp and EOL.

  • Define and maintain multi-generational hardware roadmap across discrete NPUs, i.MX-integrated NPU IP, and chiplet scale-out designs.
  • Translate customer and competitive inputs into silicon product specifications (performance targets, memory architecture, power, I/O, packaging, safety, process node).
  • Drive product definition through architecture reviews, partitioning, and tradeoff decisions with architects and engineering leads.
  • Own the business case for hardware products: BOM cost, ASP, gross margin targets, volume projections and NPV; present investment recommendations to executives.
  • Lead make-vs-buy and IP-license assessments for capabilities such as MAC arrays, in-memory compute, memory subsystems, and interconnect IP.
  • Define chiplet strategy: die partitioning, die-to-die interface selection, and multi-chip package requirements for scale-out inference.
  • Partner with i.MX, S32 SoC, i.MCU, and RT teams to specify NPU integration requirements (power domains, bus interfaces, memory bandwidth, SoC bring-up and debugging).
  • Run early access and customer sampling programs to validate requirements before freeze.
  • Own competitive benchmarking and differentiation strategy versus other NPU silicon vendors.
  • Represent the hardware portfolio to executive leadership, customers, partners, and at industry events; co-own software development with SW product manager.
  • Develop system solutions and demo platforms for hardware and software developers.

Requirements

Must-have technical and product skills, plus preferred additional experience.

  • Must-have: 10+ years of product management or product strategy experience in semiconductor or silicon IP with direct ownership of hardware product definition and roadmap.
  • Hands-on experience defining silicon product specifications: performance targets, memory architecture, power envelopes, packaging, and process node decisions.
  • Strong understanding of SoC and IP integration; experience defining IP for integration into host processors or SoCs.
  • Proven ability to build and defend business cases (BOM cost, ASP, gross margin, market sizing) and drive design wins across generations.
  • Experience with competitive analysis and differentiation strategy in fast-moving semiconductor segments.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and excellent written and verbal communication; able to present complex tradeoffs to engineering and executive audiences.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with chiplet architectures and interconnect standards (UCIe, BoW), direct experience in AI/ML inference silicon (NPU/GPU/accelerators), experience with inference workloads (CNNs, transformers, LLMs, VLMs), experience working with ODMs/OEMs and embedded/automotive markets.

Education Requirements

Preferred: MBA or an advanced degree (e.g., MS/PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. The posting does not state a required minimum degree.
