EDA Tools Software Engineer
Role Summary
As a Design Administrator (DA) on the Test Chip Engineering team, you will maintain EDA environments, develop automation and DevOps solutions, and support engineers using layout and verification tools. You will work with CAD teams, infrastructure partners, and vendors to improve workflow reliability and productivity.
Contributions focus on reducing manual effort, improving tool reliability, and enabling scalable, AI-enabled workflows across design projects. Work model: hybrid (on-site at assigned Intel site and remote).
Experience Level

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities are to administer design environments, build automation, and provide user support for engineering workflows.
- Administer and support layout, verification, and technology development environments.
- Deploy, configure, and support EDA tools (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso, Calibre, IC Validator) and related infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain automation solutions, scripts, and utilities to improve productivity and reduce manual effort.
- Design and operate DevOps and CI/CD solutions for engineering and software deployment.
- Manage GitHub repositories, version control, branching strategies, and release processes.
- Create environment setup frameworks, runset enablement methodologies, and workflow wrappers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tools, environments, access management, and workflow execution.
- Support library administration, engineering database management, and access control processes.
- Evaluate and deploy AI-enabled solutions to improve automation and user experience.
- Produce technical documentation, user guides, and best-known methods; provide timely user support.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted.
- 2+ years hands-on experience with EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Calibre, or IC Validator (ICV).
- 2+ years software development and scripting experience (Python, Shell, TCL, Perl, or similar).
- Experience with Git/GitHub and collaborative development workflows.
- Hands-on experience debugging VLSI layouts and DRC/LVS flows.
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and troubleshooting complex systems.
- Experience developing or operating DevOps/CI-CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and user-support skills for a large engineering community.
- Preferred: experience supporting CAD/design automation environments, leading migration to modern development platforms, or implementing cross-functional infrastructure improvements.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or another STEM technical discipline is listed. Intel accepts these education/experience combinations: Bachelor's + 5+ years, Master's + 2+ years, or PhD + 1+ year; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
