Job Title

EDA Tools Hardware Engineer

Role Summary

Work on full‑chip physical implementation flows and methodologies to enable scalable SoC assembly and improve design efficiency, power, and performance. The role partners with internal implementation teams and EDA vendors to define and maintain implementation strategies and tool integrations.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical background: 2–6+ years of relevant physical design or EDA tool integration experience depending on degree; see Education Requirements for details.

Responsibilities

Deliver and maintain full‑chip implementation flows and methods for multi‑block SoC designs and collaborate across teams and vendors.

  • Develop and maintain full‑chip physical implementation flows (floorplanning, partitioning, hierarchical integration).
  • Coordinate chip‑level placement, routing, and clock tree synthesis strategies.
  • Plan and analyze power grid and multi‑power‑domain integration.
  • Define methodology for hierarchical design reuse and SoC assembly flows.
  • Integrate and validate EDA tool flows (e.g., Innovus) and collaborate with EDA vendors to enable tool adoption.
  • Automate flow steps and scripts to improve repeatability and scalability.

Requirements

Must‑have technical skills and domain experience for the role.

  • Physical design fundamentals: placement and routing.
  • Clock tree synthesis (CTS) experience and strategy integration.
  • Experience with full‑chip integration methodologies using Cadence Innovus or equivalent tools.
  • Experience enabling hierarchical, multi‑block, and multi‑power‑domain implementation flows.
  • Ability to work with EDA vendors and cross‑functional engineering teams.

Nice‑to‑have:

  • Static timing analysis (STA).
  • Power grid design and IR drop analysis.
  • Experience with large SoC or multi‑block design implementation flows.
  • Scripting and automation skills in Linux environments.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 6+ years of experience; or Master's with 4+ years; or PhD with 2+ years. Equivalent practical experience considered.
