Job Title

EDA Software Engineer

Role Summary

Work on the Database, Infrastructure & Tooling (DBIT) team to model FPGA devices and implement scalable, high-performance data models and APIs consumed by Quartus Prime algorithms (synthesis, placement, routing, timing, power).

Collaborate with hardware and software teams to bring next-generation FPGA architectures into production-quality EDA flows. Bay Area salary range: $149.1K - $215.9K USD.

Senior-level. Typical experience guidance: Bachelor's +6+ years, Master's +4+ years, or PhD +8+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include defining device data models, building high-performance access APIs, and developing tools to support FPGA device bring-up.

  • Design, implement, and maintain FPGA device data models using C++ and Python.
  • Develop high-performance APIs to provide device database access to synthesis, placement, routing, timing, and power analysis.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate next-generation FPGA devices into Quartus Prime.
  • Build tools to support FPGA device bring-up, validation, and internal workflows.
  • Optimize data structures and algorithms for scalability and runtime performance.

Must-have:

  • Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
  • Experience designing and maintaining high-performance APIs or internal libraries.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to work across hardware/software boundaries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Advanced background in algorithms and data structures, including graph-based algorithms.
  • Experience developing EDA or FPGA tools.
  • Familiarity with HDL design (Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL) and FPGA architecture.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field with ~6+ years relevant experience; OR Master's degree in a related field with ~4+ years; OR Ph.D. in a related field with ~8+ years. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
