EDA PV Intern for Digital Backend Flow
Role Summary
Join the digital backend flow team to support physical verification (PV) and placement & routing (P&R) regression activities for Cadence Innovus. The intern will help review regressions, develop automation and infrastructure, and improve productivity for the tooling and validation pipeline.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Intended for students or recent graduates able to commit to an internship schedule (see Education Requirements and Requirements for availability).
Responsibilities
Work with engineers to run and improve P&R regressions and the surrounding automation.
- Assist with Innovus regression creation, execution, and review.
- Develop and maintain systems, scripts, and infrastructure to increase automation and team productivity.
- Implement and maintain scripting (Tcl, shell, Python, Perl, etc.) for tool flows and regression frameworks.
- Analyze regression results, document issues, and communicate findings to the team.
- Collaborate across teams to reproduce, triage, and resolve tool or flow issues.

Must-have:
- Practical IC design knowledge relevant to digital backend flow.
- Unix/Linux system experience.
- Scripting experience (examples: tclsh, csh/bash, Perl, Python).
- Proficiency in English and Chinese; effective written and verbal communication.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently.
- Ability to commit to internship schedule: at least 4 days per week for more than 6 months.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of statistical timing analysis or physical design concepts.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Computer Science (CS) is required.
