Job Title

EDA Computing / HPC Infrastructure MTS

Role Summary

Provide technical ownership and hands-on support for EDA/HPC compute, storage, scheduling, and application services used for semiconductor design, verification, and tapeout. Maintain performant, secure, scalable, and cost-effective compute environments across on-premises and cloud platforms.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Minimum 8+ years relevant experience for MTS; 10+ years for Senior MTS.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include operating, optimizing, and supporting EDA/HPC infrastructure and related services.

  • Support and optimize EDA compute clusters for simulation, physical verification, OPC, lithography, signoff, and tapeout workloads.
  • Operate, tune, and troubleshoot IBM LSF and other batch scheduling environments for high-throughput engineering workloads.
  • Analyze job failures, hung jobs, queue bottlenecks, license constraints, compute node issues, and workload performance problems.
  • Provide technical ownership for hybrid EDA HPC platforms across on-premises infrastructure and AWS-based compute environments.
  • Support and optimize EDA storage services (NFS, NetApp ONTAP, AWS FSx, S3) and related high-performance file services.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation and observability tools to improve operations, reliability, and support efficiency.
  • Own and resolve complex ServiceNow incidents, requests, problems, and changes related to EDA computing services.
  • Lead root-cause analysis, coordinate planned system changes, and provide concise technical status updates during incidents.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience. Preferred items are listed separately.

  • 8+ years relevant experience in EDA computing, HPC, Linux infrastructure, storage, cloud, or production engineering support (10+ years for Senior MTS).
  • Hands-on experience with batch schedulers, preferably IBM LSF.
  • Strong Linux system administration on RHEL-based platforms and Bash scripting capability.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex incidents, identify root causes, and implement sustainable technical solutions.
  • Experience supporting high-performance storage and compute environments.
  • Ability to document work, contribute to team knowledge sharing, and support continuous improvement activities.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% and fluency in English (written and verbal).

Nice-to-have:

  • AWS or other cloud platform experience for HPC or engineering workloads.
  • Python automation, monitoring, logging, dashboarding, capacity reporting, and operational analytics experience.
  • Experience supporting semiconductor design and tapeout flows and EDA applications (Calibre, ASML Brion, Cadence, Synopsys).
  • Project management skills, strong planning, and organizational skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience required. Master's degree in a related technical field preferred. Equivalent practical experience accepted.
