The role delivers production CAD software, collaborates with design teams, and mentors other engineers to meet Qualcomm's emulation and infrastructure needs.

Experience Level

Mid-level; 2+ years of relevant engineering or software development experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include developing CAD software and algorithms for emulation, optimizing compute/storage, and collaborating across teams.

  • Design, implement, and maintain CAD software and emulation algorithms (synthesis, partitioning, P&R, clock optimization).
  • Work with industry-standard EDA tools and integrations to solve infrastructure needs.
  • Optimize compute and storage resources for CAD workflows and emulation runs.
  • Produce reliable, maintainable software following design best practices and patterns.
  • Collaborate with SoC design, verification, and infrastructure teams to deliver customer-facing tools.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers; participate in code reviews and technical planning.

Requirements

Concise list of required and preferred technical qualifications. Education requirements are listed below in the Education Requirements section.

  • Must-have: C++ software development experience (CAD/tool development), typically 2+ years.
  • Must-have: Hands-on Linux experience (command line, build/debug environments), typically 2+ years.
  • Must-have: Proven software design skills, familiarity with data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
  • Must-have: Experience with tools and workflows such as Git, LSF, JIRA, GCC.
  • Must-have: Strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
  • Nice-to-have: ASIC/FPGA design or verification experience.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on CAD development for emulation-specific flows (partitioning, RTL synthesis to netlist, clock tree work, P&R exposure).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience optimizing compute/storage for large EDA workloads and prior mentoring or technical leadership experience.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master's or PhD in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
