Ecosystem Integration Engineer
Axelera AIJob Title
Ecosystem Integration Engineer
Role Summary
The Ecosystem Integration Engineer is the primary technical interface between Axelera's AI Integrated Systems engineering team and external partners in Taiwan. The role focuses on integrating Axelera accelerator cards, modules, and SBCs into partner systems, supporting NPI and production ramp, and resolving production or field issues.
This position sits close to ODMs, OEMs, CMs and suppliers to ensure successful bring-up, qualification, and mass-production support of Axelera hardware.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically requires 5+ years of hands-on electronic hardware engineering and system-level PCB/embedded experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include partner integration, production support, supplier coordination, and component qualification. Key responsibilities:
- Serve as technical point-of-contact for ODM/OEM partners adopting Axelera PCIe cards, M.2 modules, and SBCs.
- Guide hardware integration: compatibility, power budgeting, cooling, mechanical clearances, and BIOS/firmware settings.
- Support partner bring-up: OS/driver installation, Voyager SDK deployment, and first-inference validation.
- Create and maintain integration guides, application notes, and FAQs for partners.
- Provide on-site or remote support to CMs during MPI/pilot runs and first-article inspection.
- Validate CM production test procedures against Axelera ATE/ICT requirements and track CAPA to closure.
- Triage in-field production defects: collect evidence, replicate on bench, and drive root-cause analysis with R&D.
- Coordinate with power and component suppliers on qualification and field anomaly investigations; perform bench characterisation where needed.
- Contribute to component qualification and BOM change evaluations; perform bring-up and regression testing for new PCB revisions and prototypes (EVT/DVT).
- Document qualification outcomes, test reports, and deviation assessments in the company PLM/document control system.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience, followed by preferred skills.
- Must-have: 5+ years hands-on electronic hardware engineering focused on embedded or system-level PCB design.
- Solid understanding of digital interfaces: PCIe, USB, I2C/SPI/UART, LPDDR at schematic and signal-integrity level.
- Proficiency with lab instruments: oscilloscope, logic analyzer, power analyzer, JTAG debugger; ability to read and annotate schematics and PCB layouts.
- Proven experience integrating add-in cards or modules (PCIe, M.2, MXM, or similar) into OEM/ODM host platforms.
- Familiarity with mechanical and thermal constraints (heatsink mounting, TIM selection, chassis airflow) and EMC/ESD considerations.
- Comfortable installing and configuring Linux (Ubuntu/Debian), including kernel module loading and basic device tree understanding.
- Experience with EMS/CM processes: BOM review, first-article inspection, IQC, production test, and failure analysis workflows; having supported at least one MPI or EVT/DVT/PVT cycle.
- Preferred: Basic Python and Bash scripting for test automation; supplier management experience with power components; Mandarin language skills; familiarity with embedded RTOS/BSP and Altium Designer.
Education Requirements
The posting does not specify formal degree requirements. The company background notes many employees hold PhDs, but no specific degree, field of study, certification, or "equivalent experience" clause is required for this role.
