E-core CPU Physical Design Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
E-core CPU Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Implement and optimize physical design of E-core CPU core blocks from synthesis through post-layout verification and tapeout. Collaborate with micro-architecture, RTL, and custom circuit teams to meet aggressive timing and power targets.
Position is part of the Intel Atom Processor team based in Penang and is eligible for a hybrid work model.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Minimum 6 years of relevant industry experience; 7+ years preferred.
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include:
- Perform logic synthesis and place-and-route implementation for core IP blocks.
- Conduct floor-planning and routing studies; implement block and subsystem layouts.
- Perform block/subsystem timing analysis and timing closure work.
- Apply low-power techniques and implement power-reduction strategies at sub-system level.
- Drive physical verification closure including DRC/LVS, IR and electromigration checks.
- Create scripts and recipes for data analysis, automation, and tool flows.
- Work with micro-architecture, RTL, and custom circuit teams to converge the design to project targets.
- Communicate issues and trade-offs clearly; meet delivery schedules in a team environment.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Minimum 6 years of experience in CPU physical design and timing verification.
- Experience with synthesis and APR flows for multi-voltage, high-frequency designs, including custom polygon editing.
- Tcl scripting for automation and data analysis.
- Noise, crosstalk, and OCV analysis experience.
- Floorplanning and physical design experience with timing closure responsibilities.
- Experience with formal equivalence, DRC/LVS, IR and electromigration checks.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; able to work independently under aggressive schedules.
Nice-to-have:
- 7+ years of experience with the above skill sets.
- Experience with tools such as Fusion Compiler, DCT, DCE, ICC2, RedHawk, ICV, Conformal, Calibre, PrimeTime, StarRCXT.
