E-core CPU Physical Design Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
E-core CPU Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Work on physical implementation of CPU core blocks from synthesis through post-layout verification and tapeout for next-generation Intel Atom (E-core) processors. Collaborate with micro-architecture, RTL, and circuit teams to meet timing, power, and manufacturability targets.
Experience Level
Mid-level (Mid-Career); the posting requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant physical-design experience and prefers 7+ years.
Responsibilities
Deliver physical design and verification activities for CPU core blocks and subsystems.
- Implement logic synthesis and place-and-route flows for CORE IP blocks.
- Perform floorplanning, routing studies, and implementation to meet timing and power targets.
- Conduct block/subsystem-level timing analysis and timing closure.
- Apply low-power techniques and optimize power consumption in subsystems.
- Drive physical verification closure, including DRC/LVS and signoff checks.
- Develop scripts and recipes for data analysis and automation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate design trade-offs clearly.
- Work productively under aggressive schedules toward tapeout milestones.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Minimum 6 years experience in CPU physical design and timing verification.
- Experience with synthesis and APR flows for multi-voltage, high-frequency designs, including custom polygon editing.
- Proficient in Tcl scripting for automation and data processing.
- Experience with noise, crosstalk, and on-chip variation (OCV) analysis.
- Hands-on experience with floorplanning, physical design, and timing closure methodologies.
- Knowledge of formal equivalence checking and signoff checks such as IR/EM.
- Preferred: familiarity with signoff and EDA tools listed below and broader Cadence toolset experience.
Education Requirements
Must have a BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
