Job Title

E-Core (Atom) CPU Layout Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join a layout team responsible for physical implementation of future-generation Intel Atom microprocessors. The role focuses on implementing memory compilers, custom IP blocks, and layout partitions that support CPU and SoC products.

You will work across design stages with circuit designers, CAD engineers, and cross-site SoC teams to deliver verified layout from leaf cells to top-level integration.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” requires at least 3 years of layout design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include executing physical design tasks across multiple stages and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • Drive physical implementation of memory compilers, custom IP blocks, and layout partitions.
  • Independently assess and execute complex digital physical design assignments across design stages.
  • Translate schematics with circuit designers to produce correct physical implementations.
  • Build and verify physical design hierarchy from leaf-level cell layout to block- and top-level integration.
  • Work with CAD team to debug tool functionality and resolve tool-related issues.
  • Coordinate with SoC teams and cross-site design groups to ensure alignment, reuse, and consistency.

Requirements

Key technical and professional requirements; items listed as "must-have" are essential.

  • Must-have: 3+ years of hands-on layout design experience.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with VLSI and CMOS logic circuit design.
  • Must-have: Proficient programming skills (Unix shell scripting, TCL, Perl).
  • Must-have: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Must-have: Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills for cross-team collaboration.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with CPU/SoC layout flows, memory compiler integration, or CAD tool debugging.

Education Requirements

Candidate must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronic/Microelectronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (as stated in the posting).
