DSP / NPU Staff Design Verification Engineer
QualcommJob Title
DSP / NPU Staff Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Lead design verification for Qualcomm's DSP and NPU IP, focusing on IP-to-SoC level verification, testbench architecture, automation, and coverage closure.
The role sits on the DSP team in Bangalore and collaborates with architecture, implementation, power, post-silicon and back-end teams to ensure delivery of high-quality processor/IP cores for mobile and AI use cases.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 12+ years of processor/ASIC design verification experience.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities for this role include:
- Drive end-to-end design verification of DSP/NPU IP at IP, subsystem and SoC levels.
- Architect, implement and maintain SystemVerilog/UVM testbench frameworks and verification environments.
- Develop verification plans, create testcases, and track coverage to meet release goals.
- Implement verification automation and methodologies to improve quality and efficiency.
- Perform simulations, debug functional and timing failures, and support gate‑level bring-up.
- Employ assertions, formal/static checks, HW–SW co‑verification, emulation and acceleration tools as required.
- Work on power‑aware RTL verification and gate‑level timing/power simulations.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 12+ years of experience in processor/ASIC design verification.
- Strong understanding of digital design and processor architecture.
- Expertise in SystemVerilog testbench architecture and UVM methodology.
- Experience with commercial simulators (Synopsys, Mentor, Cadence) and gate‑level simulation/debug.
- Power‑aware verification experience and knowledge of timing‑annotated simulations.
- Scripting and automation skills (Perl, Python, Shell, Makefiles).
- Strong analytical and debugging skills and familiarity with OOP concepts.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience writing C and assembly level testcases.
- Familiarity with UPF for power intent and verification, formal methods and assertion-based verification.
- Experience with SystemC, HVL, verification of processor subsystems, and building validation suites.
Education Requirements
Degrees: Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or a related technical field are referenced. The posting also specifies degree+experience combinations (e.g., Bachelors +6 years, Masters +5 years, PhD +4 years) as minimum-qualification examples; equivalent practical experience is implied where degree combinations are used.
