DSP / NPU Design Verification Senior Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for planning and executing design verification for Qualcomm proprietary DSP and NPU IP across IP, subsystem and SoC levels. Work with architecture, implementation, power, post-silicon and back-end teams to ensure functional correctness, performance and successful silicon bring-up.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 2–8 years of relevant design verification experience in processor or ASIC environments.
Responsibilities
Lead and execute verification activities for DSP/NPU IP from IP to SoC scope.
- Drive design verification and coordinate with global design and cross-functional teams.
- Architect, implement and improve SystemVerilog/UVM testbench infrastructure.
- Develop verification methodologies, automation and test plans to meet coverage targets.
- Run simulations, debug failures at IP, subsystem and SoC levels; perform HW‑SW co‑verification.
- Use assertions, formal/static checks, simulation acceleration and emulation as required.
- Perform gate‑level simulation bring‑up and timing/power‑aware verification.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted.
- Experience in processor or ASIC design verification and strong debugging skills.
- Solid understanding of digital design and processor architecture.
- Expertise in SystemVerilog and UVM testbench architecture and implementation.
- Experience with commercial simulators (Synopsys/Mentor/Cadence) and gate‑level simulation.
- Scripting and automation skills (Perl, Python, Shell, Makefile).
- Good knowledge of object‑oriented programming concepts and test development practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Preferred: experience writing C/assembly testcases, SystemC, power‑aware verification (UPF), formal/assertion‑based verification, and verification of processor subsystems.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years of hardware engineering or related experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 1+ year of related experience; OR PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
