Job Title
DSP Architect
Role Summary
Join Marvell's Data Center Engineering (DCE) Connectivity DSP team to architect and develop DSP solutions for high-speed electrical and optical transceivers used in data center, AI, cloud and carrier infrastructure. The role focuses on system-level DSP architecture, algorithm research and simulation, and collaboration with analog, digital, and verification teams through chip bring-up and lab validation.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical experience profile: Bachelor's degree plus 5+ years relevant experience, or Master’s/PhD with 2+ years relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include system architecture, algorithm development, modeling, and hands-on validation.
- Architect and simulate advanced DSP systems; define features, performance targets, and detailed specifications to guide analog and digital design teams.
- Research DSP techniques for high-speed SerDes and optical communication channels.
- Prototype and evaluate algorithms for equalization, adaptation, and forward error correction (FEC).
- Develop and validate DSP models and algorithms in C++, MATLAB, or Python within simulation environments.
- Build bit-true models of DSP architectures and collaborate with design and verification teams for hardware implementation.
- Participate in chip bring-up and perform hands-on lab debugging and system validation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; degree details are listed under Education Requirements.
-
Must-have: Strong R&D background in probability, detection/estimation theory, coding theory, digital communications, or digital signal processing.
-
Must-have: Proven experience with high-speed DSP building blocks (FFE/DFE, adaptive filters, clock and data recovery, FEC, maximum likelihood sequence detection).
-
Must-have: Proficiency in C++, MATLAB, or Python for algorithm development and simulation.
-
Must-have: Experience creating bit-true models and collaborating with design, verification, and lab teams for chip implementation and bring-up.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with signal integrity and ADC-based wireline transceivers.
-
Nice-to-have: Familiarity with optical communication hardware (lasers, modulators, photodetectors, TIAs) and either direct-detect or coherent optical systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication skills, and ability to work on cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience. Graduate coursework or equivalent experience in Digital Signal Processing, Digital Communications, Information Theory, Coding Theory, and Probability Theory is expected.
