DRAM IP Development Layout (Internship)

Role Summary

As a Layout Design Engineering Intern you will contribute to the development and verification of analog and digital IP layout cells used in DRAM products. You will work with experienced layout engineers on floorplanning, placement, routing, and physical verification while developing automation and AI-supported tools to improve productivity.

This is a hands-on internship focused on practical layout methodologies, verification, and scripting-driven automation.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship. Targeted at students in their final two semesters; expected graduation December 2027 preferred.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Develop layout for selected analog and digital IP cells under guidance from senior layout engineers.
  • Perform Design Rule Check (DRC) and Layout Versus Schematic (LVS) verification and document findings.
  • Create technical reports summarizing design work, verification results, and lessons learned.
  • Design and implement SKILL-based automation to improve layout or verification workflows.
  • Support engineering activities using AI-assisted development methodologies and productivity tools.
  • Collaborate with layout and verification teams to meet project milestones.

Requirements

Must-have skills and attributes:

  • Experience with at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, or similar).
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills; ability to work efficiently on multiple tasks.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work part-time as an intern and follow established engineering processes.

Nice-to-have:

  • Academic or internship experience related to semiconductor layout design processes.
  • Understanding of DRC and LVS analysis.
  • Experience with EDA tools such as Cadence or Synopsys.
  • Interest in semiconductor memory technologies and physical design methodologies.
  • Experience applying AI tools in semiconductor development.

Education Requirements

Student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Nanotechnology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; preferably in the final two semesters with an expected graduation of December 2027.
